I'm thinking about getting powerbocks of some sort. My main concern is safety. How dangerous are they for beginners?

'bout on par with semi serious mountain biking.   But risks same  no matter experience. If a noob  u just run and bounce a bit  experienced  u try and flip.

Just remember wrist elbow and knee pads  then falling over 'should' be little more than embarresing Smiley

where abouts are u btw   there maybe peeps near you to reasure you in person

how safe, they are safe if you are safe and don't push it too much, take things at a slow steady pace, and they'll be fine.

yeah its very easy to make them very safe, use pads and a helmet, and know your limits, don't jump things that are taller than your comfortable, don't run faster than your comfortable.  Just take your time learning and its very safe.

but lets be 'counter factual' for a mo.   Erm  do u want a nice safe hobby?

Now, bouncing about on these things like a loon is a lil bit dangrous. But risk ? is pretty well a few bruises and feling a bit stiff and aching in morning and having partner telling u to stop it or that you r rubbish ( its really bad if ya g/f is bettter than u --no names  but u know who u r hehe).

But if no 'edge'  would we do it?discuss

I'll concurr with the general theme here, its as safe as you are. If you put a pair on and after 30 mins think you can run like the guys on YouTube then you're gonna have a bad time.

WEAR PADS EACH & EVERY SINGLE TIME - check my sig for a bad wrist moment!

Do it with a mate - mainly to help you get up but also for a laugh, also its not gay to hold another persons hand as you walk* - would you rather be gay or start a new diet of grass and concrete?

Hope this helps!

Yep, that was me, and I paid for it dearly. Both wrists fractured and unbelievable pain!

Had the wrist guards next to me but forgot to put them on ....duh!!!

Wifey says "Have you learned your lesson now?"
My reply "Soon as my arms work again I'm getting straight back on them with wrist guards! Life is loaded with unpleasant experiences but we learn from them. A bad experience is NOT a reason to quit."
