halloween is getting close and i'm sure that i'm not the only one incorporating my risers into a frightening costume.  i'm looking forward to lurking in the shadows to scare the *#%@ out of peeps.
i've only begun to put my costume together and need to modify it to add length and to work with powerisers but here is my start.

Haha! That'll be hillarious if you chase people down the street on them, and then just bounce on by!

i worked out the bottom part of the costume so that i can now walk rather easily, even run.   now when i walk you can't see the risers at all.  i still have some things to work out and some effects to add but thats why i'm starting early.

i have a vid of me walking if anyone is interested.

Anyone tried walking with crutches/canes? the four-leg effect might be nice, especially if you can rear up on your legs and stick your front limbs in the air

Chuck,

I like the effect.  A Darth Maul costume might be pretty cool with the risers, especially for those daring enough to do flips with the extra rags on.  I am sure it would be a hit with newer Star Wars generation as well.

Kender, my crutches should be here any day now (hopefully today). If the weather is clear when they come in, I'll shoot a video and upload it.

Oh, and I know I've said it before, but I plan on a few evil stilt characters for the local haunted house. One of the guys I work with up there has had risers in his character's since at least last year. I'll be the first to go quad-stilt on them though Grin

It's a shame to cover up the stilts though. The coolest thing about 'Risers is their similarity to some kind of animal legs.

I'd cover them in faux fur or some kind of textured material in a way so that they're fitted and show off the shape.

I've done that before just by simply laying my stilt on some faux fur and cutting (make sure to cut 2) a piece wide enough to go around and overlap in the back a bit and long enough to reach from the top of the knee supports (where I safety pinned the fabric to some elastic so that it would gather around my knee and be comfortable) down to about 4 inches below the foot pad where I folded it under and pinned it so that it was fitted. The overlap along the back I just pinned from the inside so that you couldn't see the pins. For the part beneath the footpad, I pinned stretchy black fabric and then wrapped some dingy tattered fabric strips over that for detail. If you have tire socks on, then you've already got your "hooves" or "paws".

For some leg covering inspiration, check out these sites: http://www.creaturecrates.com/stiltbeasts.htm
