Hey my name is Ian Chapman. I live in Iowa in the United States and I'm 16 unlike most people my parents are very accommodating so they have no problem with power bocking. I'm getting a pair of the brand new PowerStrider Olympic Steel versions as soon as i get the cash in Mid February. I plan to just take it easy till i get used to them but i have one question. For those of you who have flipped on powerisers have any of you done flips on a trampoline. I'm curious how the two compare because i can flip on a trampoline and i want to know if ill be any good on the powerstriders.

Hi Ian,

How very judgemental about other peoples parents! I'm just messin.

It is similar and its not Smiley It's slower because your legs are longer and much heavier which slows the rotation down so you really need to work on it.

I would definately NOT say that if you can flip on a trampoline then you can flip on stilts. It would be very dangerous to try it without some sort of crash mat.

+1 to if you're going to try it... make sure you have a spotter, and crash mats, or potentially a gym to practice in.  Makes life a heck of a lot safer.

Iowa huh? To bad you didn't get them sooner. I'm in Davenport. But I'm moving to Georgia next week.  If you're nearby I can let you know the good spots to bock at.

I thought about this, but I think the possibility of hitting the rim of the trampoline is pretty high.  Most people can't flip and land 3 ft above their take off point, so you'd prolly just land on your back on the bed of the trampoline, but if you get good or lucky, and get your feet down, you're likely to stumble backwards and hit your head/back on the edge or fall off.  It looks really cool, but I don't think its a piratical or safe learning method.

I was meaning it more for landing on you back and butt. I only did the once, most of the time I was landing on my butt, just working height.

I totally agree. Even if you could arrange it to bounce off the same level you still pushing your luck and could bash your head ... but looks cool   Grin

I live Right by Stone City. Little West of Anamosa....to tell you the truth im not sure where davenport is because i grew up to fifth grade in Illinois. Anyone thought of using sand pit on a track as a landing pad? Also i thought about building a angled box to put on a hill that i would fill with foam.

Long jump pits have been used, they're not the best thing, but better than hard ground.
Building a foam pit would help but it's a heck of a lot of work.

Luckily i'm pretty handy with tools. And we have an entire woodworking shop. Whipping out some plywood walls reinforced by 2x4's wouldnt be that hard.

The hard works not just building it but keeping in clean a mould free. If it's outside make a lockable lid so you do get some prant putting something nasty in it  Shocked

I've found a topic about foam pits.

Expanding foam on all the seams on the inside. Paint It to protect from rain. Make a Lid with weather Sealing to keep out rain that way. Sounds like itd be waterproof to me.

Anyways. Back to flipping. I'm thinking of taking some private gymnastics lessons to learn to flip without them first. Figure it would be a good experience and my dad said he would feel safer if I had professional help learning to do it normally first.
