Hey,

Just got a pair of Pro-jumps and i need to tape the springs. I know a few layers of electricians tape will do it, but i also wanted to customise them so that they have a picture of a flame running up the spring.

I went to a car graphics shop to see if they could do anything but the stuff they use wouldn't stick properly.

Any ideas anyone???

Thanks

1.  Wrap springs with some wrags.
2.  Wet wrags with gasoline.
3.  Light.

 Wink

NOTE:  DO NOT FOLLOW THE ABOVE INSTRUCTIONS!
DOING SO WILL CAUSE YOU SERIOUS INJURY!  IT'S JUST A JOKE.

Seriously, you probably would have to use a spandex-like covering with imprinted graphic.  Sounds like a real custom project.

Alternatively, if you are artistically inclined, you may be able to apply red and yellow electrical tape and cut out a flame pattern with an Xacto knife.  At least the tape would have some stretching capability.  I would suggest overlaying a wide amount of tape onto some wax paper to build the width of the graphic, and then cut out the flame pattern and apply to your springs like a decal.  Draw the pattern, first, on paper so you can see what you like.

Awesome suggestions Bill ty.

was thinking something along the lines of making a cover for them, although not sure how to go about it.

In response to your rags and gasoline post though. I do plan on modding my stilts at some point to incorporate fire. (If you can't tell already, i'm a bit of a pyromaniac). Will probably involve spraying lit paraffin out the back when the springs compress. But that's a long way off yet.

Yeah..  Well just keep in mind that, if anything goes wrong, those things are strapped to your legs and are not the fastest things to get out of.    Shocked

Good luck with the design.

THANKS BOCKING MAD!!!!

Those stickers look perfect!!!

As for the actual fire stilts, i have a sort of half design in my head atm. I'm going to run it past some engineering students i know once i get back to uni, see what they think.

thanks again Bocking Mad

Get your design on a CD, take said CD to a printer that does vinyl cut outs...... get them to transfer onto vinyl.... et voila, just apply transfers to your springs.
Alternatively, you could stencil them on in acrylics and covers in Marley tape.
