Second day on my bocks, total time:

First Day: 3-5 Hours or so.

Second Day: About... 5-10 Minutes, then I fell. Then walked around for 10-20 mins. (Didn't think the wound was so bad)

I was attempting to run, fell foward, my wrist gaurds did stop me, kinda slid. Then I turned, and rotated to my side. Where my elbow got horribly ... sanded?

Then two guys were coming around the corner, they start shouting "We ssaw that! We're uploading it to Youtube!" lol. They didn't have a camera... i think :/

Not sure what to call it, its a bit too bloody and huge to call a scratch. ANYWAY!
*About 3cm x 4 cm*

Might take a break bocking since every muscle in my body is aching, espically my, under knees? Where the 7league knee strap goes. But then, bocking is fun.
Im sure im going to bock again, try to turn, and wipe out even worse.

Seroiusly, How do you learn to run, becuase its being impossible for me.

Tips on starting running, stopping running, anything! Sad

Thanks in advance! Wink

btw, not really put off my the fall, even if the "big scratch" is pretty painful.

I can't wait to get out there again, just want to... know how to run... Tongue

To "learn" to run, try one legged bounces.  Once you have those down decently enough, try moving them forward, one leg then the other, slowly working up the forward speed.  It will be like longer, bounding strides rather than the short and quick strides you are used to without bocks.  Just remember to give yourself enough room to slow down, it will take several bounds to do so.

And were you wearing full gear to get that scrape?!... the only cuts/scrapes I've gotten from falls like that have been on my hands where the wrist guards don't cover  Undecided (knocks on wood).

Good luck with the running,

~ Bboy

im not saying he should keep trying right away.  Its obvious he doesnt yet have the balance required to run on these.  Obviously you should progress up to it once you are more comfortable.  But when i got to the stage where i was comfortble on my bocks but couldnt run i just kept trying different ways until it worked.

I just went for it.  If you are stable enough on your bocks you should be able to recover from most trips.

And most definitel wear pads.  They will not only save you in a fall, but also GREATLY help your confidence.

well what i did, was i walked then i gradually got a bit faster then a bit ffaster, BUT REMEMBER when you get tired, either stop, or if you want to carry on jogging KEEP YOUR HOOVES UP. Otherwise you will trip and fall. And also post a vid and we (haha well others) will give you tips on how to improve Smiley

But that isn't what you told him.  He's trying to run now and you told him to keep on running until he gets it.  What may be obvious to you isn't always obvious to a newbie.  All you told him was to keep trying to run.

I see what you mean.  I removed the post

KEEP YOUR HOOVES UP

Thats why I hate speedbumps. xD

But yeah I guess im just rushing it, I thought running was an easier aspect, I'll learn it slowly.

... kind of. I have recovered ONCE. Using the weird, front / back split technique I've been seeing alot.

Usually Im lucky enough to land beside a tree or bench.

But I can recover... barely.

thats not what i mean.  Im asking if your trip can you catch yourself and recovery your balance before you hit the pavement.  Not if you can get up once you fall.

yeah. I've fallen only once, the "acutal  fall". Other than that its just me stumbling to get my balance.

I hate speedbumps.

if you still dont like speedbumps your not ready for running yet haha.  You should be able to walk up stairs without losing ur balance before you try running in my opinion.
