This isn't a question of specifically where, but what sort of surface. I don't have mine yet, and wanted to ask if they can be used on unpaved roads. We have lots of well maintained and empty forestry roads in my area that I'd love to try, but so far the videos I've seen show them only used on pavement.

Thanks!  Smiley

yeah as long as its dry and not to sandy, you should be alright, just gotta be hard packed, not too lose or you'll slide, and that's no good.

This pre-noob is a female in Santa Fe, New Mexico US. Thanks for the welcome! I'm just reading everything here and in the deciding what to buy stage.

The soil on those roads is sandy but hard packed. I run up there with my dogs and was hoping I could use these up there too, eventually. My dogs would like someone who could keep up with them! I assume it's a much better experience on a paved surface though?

Ive had bad experiences with Dirt ..sorry to say it but i try to stay away from ANY loose surfaces at all.. as if it moves and you stand on it.. the grip between the dirt and the dirt beneath can result in a nasty fall...

all we can really say is be careful and start slow on any surface that your unsure of.

I was thinking about the dogs knocking me over. I have three, and their total weight is 420lbs. No.. Nooooooo.. stay AWAY from me!

I was knocked down on my bicycle by someone's German Shepherd. I lay there on the ground in my toe clips. :-/

I think I will put off the dirt roads for much later.

I think you'd be OK on a dirt road. One of the 1st things I did (and that wasnt very long ago) was take them on the local common, its pretty dry up there but all the paths are gravel. As for animals I managed to terrify a retriever, and startle a pair of cows but my Grandparents dogs were fine with them. I guess you could try bouncing round a little to see what your dogs think of them and go from there.
