Right not very good at this video Malarky, so i hope this works....
Went for another walk to the park this morning with the wife, after the kids had gone to school.
Grabbed the fence for some spring flexing practice on the way down:

Click here to watch jumping-holding-fence on putfile

Once at the car park, i had a jog around:

The quality of the youtube vid seems much poorer than on putfile??

Getting a feel for them now, and the confidence is slowly building.
Then thought i should have a go at a basic star-jump....big mistake, Shocked  much to the amusement of the wife  Kiss:

She thought me trying to get back up, was equally funny too:

I eventually did manage to get upright, after a lot of effort. Phew!!

After about an hour we returned home, and i was lathered. This seems to be a very good form of exercise.

I think i will leave it a day before going out again. Don't want to overdo it at my age. Cheesy

I still can't manage to get up! My legs are too short for the adult models so if i fall, i'm not quite sure what im going to do Tongue.
I've used the old flip flops but there still no match for the stilts. Grin

Regarding the star jump fall, you are lucky you didn't break your left arm because it almost looks like you may have stiff-armed the ground with that one as you twisted slightly left with your arm back.  Also, be careful of falling backwards onto your tail bone.  Backward falls are never fun.  Nice job, though, for only the second time out on them.

You should get some tire socks on those. I was watching the videos and I saw the foot was black. I wondered, did he switch stilts? but no, that was the underside of the hoof.
Nice second day though, youll get that star jump soon.

Wow, between the yellow spring tape and the black hoof mods, your bocks really look like they're 7leagues, not Powerisers.

powergirl,
My eldest daughter is eleven, and the pro-jump juniors are too small for her. My powerisers are too big for her, although they look like the calf cuff section can be adjusted downwards to fit her? This would still leave the top section of the spring sticking into the back of her thigh. Looks like there could be an ergonomic gap in the current market??

Bill,
Cheers. i had no intention of falling any direction, but i can tell you that backwards was quite scary. I have fallen on my tailbone (coxsix)? whilst skateboarding in the past. I will try and avoid that at all costs, it was not pleasant. Luckily I escaped unscathed from this one. I actually bruised the back of my thigh, trying to get back up! Undecided  I guess i will have to practice the jumping and balance some more, before tricking. Wink

Electric stapler,
the underside of the hoof is black as it has some rubber stuck to it. Seems to be holding up so far, but time will tell.
How long should a good rubber shoe last in comparison to a standard hoof or tyre sock?

Got a big piece of 8mm thick rubber matting from work. Cut it into hoof sized/shaped pieces and then glued them on. Tie wraps used to clamp it for 12hrs. The front end did start to peel away after half hour use (which was a tripping hazard), so i have added permanent tie wraps to secure front/rear. The fronts are recessed slightly into the rubber. so far so good.

Mr Frank,
That is purely by accident, i just happen to like yellow. Cheesy

Pendragon,
You are correct. My wife is the best. Puts up with me and my silly ideas anyways. Grin

Good going zipp especially for day two. So nice to see someone who aint quite a teenager getting out there and giving it your all Smiley

My only advice is to watch the floor. Seems in the vids that some rainfall had happened recently and some of the floor had damp patches. You need to watch for silly things like this....can be a killer. Anything like leaves, gravel etc. Hit it with your weight in the wrong direction (especially running) and BAM you'll do down rather hard.
Looking good though Cool

Yeah, gravel on the road can be scary.  In addition to rolling under you, it also throws off your balance unless you land on it with the exact center of your hoof.

It's not just your age, because I was the same way when I started.  I'm seventeen and in very good shape, but the awkward musculature they need can slow down any beginner.  I think it'll be a while before you can comfortably bock every day.

And I don't think anyone knows how long your rubber matting will last because I'm not sure if anyone has ever used that material, especially at that particular thickness, before.  You'll just have to find out.

That one hoof's new rubber already looks pretty worn.  I don't think that type of rubber will last long.

Locky,

Thanx for the encouragement and the warning. I did happen to take a couple of 6" slides the other day. Where the grass meets the pavement, there is a build up of wet dirt and silt. It caught me off guard a couple of times, but fortunately i was able to remain upright.

Mr Frank,

I will re-word my question, as it seems to have been misinterpreted.
I realise that my rubber shoes will have to prove themselves over time, and Bill, i did expect to see quick wear on the soft ridged section. It is the next phase of wear i am now monitoring, along with the grip level. Wink
My questions are:
How long will a poweriser hoof last unprotected?
How long does a typical tyre shoe last?
How long do Hoofies last?

I realise that this could be a whole can of worms, type question, as there are many variables, but a general answer would be most helpful.

its gotta be mearused in hours of use, unfortunately, nobody really keeps track of that beyond the first month or so, i've had unprotected powerisre hooves for almost a year, they're still going, but getting down to replacement time within the next month i think.  Also i didn't use them much over the winter cause it gets to cold to bock here from december to march.   But i really have no clue how many hours of use i have on them, which is the actually important number.

It also depends on what you do on them and where you do it.  I think running wears them more than bouncing, and pavement wears them quickly too.  Hardpacked dirt does little or no wear.

I've had mine for five months but only used them for three because of snow, and I think they're about 2/3 of the way through their lifetimes, but it's hard to tell.  Does anyone else have cracks near the sides?

EDIT:I forgot to mention that my tire socks lasted about a month of my total time with my bocks.
