Hmm, i've been sent old stuff eh?

Seems to work quite well in combo with the new stuff.
Went out last night with DarkInsomn1a for a couple of hours, and had a blast.
Bocks felt sound and secure. I have adjusted the Outside stabilizer rods upwards, to make the outside edge of the footplate raised (towing in). This has stopped the unwanted outward knee movement, and feels so much more stable for me.

Had no problems with the bocks at all last night, only my bravery (or lack thereof) is holding me back now. Smiley
Really good to get out and bock with someone else. Makes it so much more interesting, and it will push our progression on a bit too, i think.

BTW, has anyone got any standard flipoff replies to the "Do a backflip then mate" remark, that seem to come from almost every kid we pass??

Hey Zipp I didn't see this problem untill now.  I woulda let you know earlier how to fix it.  Human legs don't go straight down from the knee. The Tibia and Fibula are on the outside of the knee. So your cuffs shouldn't be symmetrical.  your knee needs to push straight down on the stilts if it's off slightly it'll go in or out.  I have my cuffs turned to the outside.  The inside bar almost goes straight out from the stilt.  More like this.  \|  |/

I find it's kind of backwards of what you might think.  If you move the cuffs too far outside your knee will want to come in.  If it's too far inside your knee will want to go out.

It's a pain to sit there and loosen em up try it out and do it again but I think it's a much better way to treat this than angeling your foot to compensate.

IMO washers won't solve the problem at the footplate joint due to the fact that there is no "block" or spacer within that joint to keep the frame walls from bending inward and skewing the joint.  You need something in the u-frame to keep it square at the joints and resist sideways pressure.  I drew a diagram below to demonstrate what I feel is is happening with the joints.  I've left out the sleeve bushings to make it more basic - as the sleeve bushing protrude through the frame hole and do nothing to stop the deformation of the u-frame.  The green are washers and the red block is what is needed to prevent deforming of the u-frame.  Just my opinion.

yeah that's what we need bill

i've just taken mine apart again and found that the rod that the footplate screws to was just badly made and the hole on the right is about a mm higher than the hole on the left, i think this was the cause of my problem, the wobble room just made it worse.

I think bills idea could work, but its a lot to do.
I thought we figured that it was the size of the sleeves, which makes me think washers could work if they actually fit around the protruding sleeve. those brass washers they put in go over only the small rod that is covered by the sleeves. If they fit over the actual sleeves, they could add all the space that is required to prevent this wobble (with more washers maybe being required)

Bills Idea is also the way to go for this.

Did I miss something posted earlier that would say this does not work?

Man, what type of machinery tolerances are they using!??  This is not good.  I wish they were made in Germany and not Asia.  I'm going to try to add some sort of a block fix to my frame at the joints.  The bolt wouldn't have to go through the block, as long as the block is added right next to teh bolt.

those brass washers they put in go over only the small rod that is covered by the sleeves. If they fit over the actual sleeves, they could add all the space that is required to prevent this wobble (with more washers maybe being required)

The large washers DO fit over the sleeves, when positioned correctly (and if they are not trashed out of the box due to poor factory assembly).  But even correctly positioned, the washers do not prevent the inner u-frame walls from bending INWARD, creating more gap.  Aluminum is a soft metal -- as you can see by the scratches and gashes you can easily put into the frame.  A couple of washers isn't going to keep it from bending under the types of forces we are generating when we jump.

Until a skewing fix for the joints is found, I would suggest people refrain from any spin jumps as this type of torque upon landing may certainly contribute to joint twisting.  Hmmm...  I think I brought that concern up years ago if I recall.    Tongue  (I know everyone with this problem isn't doing spin jumps.)

Dominion was here over the weekend and we built a set of spacers to stop the hoof from bending in, don't know why the manufacturer hasn't done this yet, but we just found some 1/2 inch copper pipe that fits perfectly around the sleeves, so we cuts sections and pushed it into the frame and re assembled the bearings inside the pipe, don't have any pic of it assembled but here's a diagram of how it works.  This is really the best solution to this problem, we've just been too lazy to build it before.

That looks like just the job XS. I will try and source some copper tube too, and copy that i think.

Well this is about day 6 using the PoweriSers now. Having someone to get out with, is far more fun, and the progression just keeps, well....progressing. Smiley
Went out last night with DarkInsomn1a for the second time. We found a great little spot at a local park. It is some sort of outdoor stage/bandstand, with 12" and 18" platforms and walls. Ideal for us newbies, i think.

This is about the best overview we have so far. Will get a better one next time.

It was fairly straight forward jumping up and down from the 18" platforms, but kind of scary jumping over the 18" walls.
We did manage to do it a few times, but it would seem timing and distance are key, as well as confidence and commitment.

I mentioned yesterday about my surprise at someone bottoming out on pr90120's. I have still not bottomed out on mine, but pic 3 below, shows that i am closer to it, than i first thought. I guess i will feel a jolt when it actually happens?

We had a good 2 n 1/2 hour session there last night. I feel we both made good progress, and i look forward to going there again. Thanx to DarkInsomn1a for the encouragement and enthusiasm.
I only have very small bruises on my hamstrings today.

Heres a quick pic of how the GoodYear hooves are holding up. Pretty good so far and the grip level is superb. No so good on grass, but i don't think the normal hooves are that good on grass either?

This morning i have been busy trying to fabricate some footplate risers from some 12mm perspex.
I don't think they look to bad. They still have the frosted protective covers on. Got them all shaped and the holes drilled and countersunk, ready to mount them with some longer M4 and M5 bolts i acquired for the job.
They feel a bit heavy to me, and weigh in at 340g each. I still have to get hold of drill bit to cut out the 4 circles, so that should help lose a few grammes.
I see now, that someone used cheap flipflops as riser pads. I bet that is a much easier and lighter way to go. I may look into that if these end up to heavy. Either way, once done, that should be the end of the hamstring bruising for good.

I also took delivery of my new Demon Flex impact shorts today. They are quite snug and don't feel at all restrictive. You saw the vid at the start of this thread, so these should provide some extra protection for those moments. Looking forward to having a session in them, to see how they perform.
Got the kids a pair too.

Ooh, Does my bum look big in these!! Shocked

Well I just checked fedex and there's a new pair sitting on my door step, i think i may be leaving work early today to go play.  Assuming this pair is straight i'll make a set of spacers and post up a full picture tutorial on how to make them in the next couple days.

as for  your bottom out question, you'll know when it happens you'll get a  jolt up your spine if its bad, its not fun.

Good to see Zipp and its great to find a great bocking spot. It's amazing but its usually the places that you never even think would be good for bocking.
Plenty there in those pics to keep you occupied Smiley

Just noticed Zipp your tyres have the grooves in them where the tie wraps are... did you cut those or is it part of the pattern?
