What techniques do you find yourselves doing to jump further?

Last night, i went across the street to my old high school parking lot, and bounded back and forth until i was VERY tired.  What a great workout, with the night being the perfect temperature to bound back and forth in, without getting too hot from the sun.

The street lights provide more than enough illumination for me to bounce without fear of falling or tripping over anything, such as myself.

I can easily clear a parking spot side to side, per bound.  It's such a great feeling.

As soon as this school semester ends, i'll be taking my runs again after work. 3-4 afternoons a week.  This should improve my endurance a bit.

Sounds like a great time and place to practise. The idea of clearing a parking space sounds cool.

Do you like to jump kangaroo-style, or moon-walk? (notice the terminology developing!) I was just out and was doing some kangaroo stuff.

In fact I realised something cool to do: Jump on two feets pretty high, then twist around 180 degrees in the air and bounce again- keep doing that, it's pretty cool.

To get more spring, it's all about keeping your leg firm and not letting yourself absorb any of the energy. It's also about pushing down at the right moment, and bringing your knees up.

 Cool

I was full out sprinting.  I'll try and get a video clip this afternoon, cause the digital doenst capture enough light at night.

I guess you could call it moon walking, not kangaroo jumping.

Moonwalking, is long bounds from one foot to the other....

Kangaroo hopping such as that your feet are both next to each other, and you are bouncing on both feet simultaneously.

Is this the correct terminology?

once i get going with some running speed i then go into bounding (moon-walking) but as fun as it is it KILLS me because *brag* i can do huge strides and it takes everything outta me. if i do it enuff my shoulders ache the next morning.

kangarooing is far more fun because it scares the sh** out of me. i cant move more than about 40cm in a direction because im still a tad unbalanced.

I know what you mean!! It's addicting!  I have to get back into the shape I was in, that way I can bounce for longer than 30-60 minutes at a time.

haha, i myself like bounding kangooroing style, i find i get much higher and still have lots of control over the jump that way, im not sure how far i can go with a singal bound but i have jumped over a bin at my college, which is about 3 to 4 feet high from the ground Smiley

My way of jumping is using my arms as if im using them to thrust me up and pussing as hard as i can each time i hit the floor (even if i think om going to fall over) it seems to work quite well. I find if you have no fear of falling it wont happen.... well mostly it does not happen anyway  Tongue

When you guys talk about height do you mean from the floor to the lowest part of your body/poweriser?
Couldn#t you just flick your legs up and measure to your knees or crotch and call it an extra few fett or doesnt it work like that? just curious cos i can do two feet but to the bottom of my risers but it would be higher if i just flicked my legs up (like another two feet)

I understand what you mean and also if you do that it helps you jump higher as your legs do get higher in the air, so whether you could do it and say that you went higher, i dont know lol, but i do know that whilst doing it in mid-air then when you reach the ground bending you knee's slitely and then extending will get you more air than just jumping up and down endlessly.
