Hi all!
I'm about to make the move from peg stilts to powerizers, they look amazing!
So I was wondering... does anyone commute to work on theirs in london - or anywhere?!
Would Vauxhall to Baker St be a bit ambitious in rush hour?!
Cycling's just sooo boring....

I'm seventeen and I've been biking to school for years, I got my bocks last November, and I'm just beginning to approach the fitness level necessary to make the 4.5km trip to school.  It will need a lot of practice and a backpack with a waist strap and maybe some internal bungee cords if you wanna get fancy, but it is not impossible.  If current technology and its availability allowed for commercially feasible 2.5-kilo bocks, they might become very practical for getting around, but no such bocks exist as of yet.  Maybe when they figure out how to make carbon composite for cheap... For the frame, not spring...

Anyway, Flying Locust brands sell the Up-Wing by a few names, and that's pretty light especially around the hoof.  It has pivoting footplates and mediocre calf cuffs instead of the normal bindings.  Up-wings might be a good idea for what to buy, as well as the Powerskip Pro model which is more classical in design, but has strong, light components and also has a pivoting footplate.  They are about the same weight, but Powerskip Pro will last much longer and is generally of much higher quality, and can also be upgraded with the superior Poweriser calf cuff.  The unconventional design of the Up-Wing means you have to buy Up-Wing replacement parts.  All other brands' parts are interchangeable.
Two other models are also OK for running around.  Poweriser Advanced (2008 model) is nice because it comes with snowboard bindings and calf cuffs.  Snowboard bindings hold much better than the bindings most bocks come with, and calf cuffs are more comfortable, more stable, and more adjustable than regular kneebars.  However, Poweriser Advanced does not come with pivoting footplates, which make a big difference for running around.  The other OK model for running around is the Flying Locust Pro model, which is very much like the base model but it comes with pivoting footplates.

Here's a list of approximate prices:
Powerskip Pro: $1600
Poweriser Advanced: $500
Up-Wing: $450 (not really sure on this one)
Flying Locust Pro: $380 (not sure about this either)
Sorry I don't know the current conversion factor between dollars and pounds, but it was a little over two pounds to the dollar last time I checked.

I wish it was like that. I think what he means is that its just over two dollars to the pound. Just wanted to clear up any confusion.

Eddie Langston: If everything seems credible then nothing seems credible. You know, TV puts everybody in those boxes, side-by-side. On one side, there's this certifiable lunatic who says the Holocaust never happened. And next to him is this noted, honored historian who knows all about the Holocaust. And now, there they sit, side-by-side, they look like equals! Everything they say seems to be credible. And so, as it goes on, nothing seems credible anymore! We just stopped listening! - Man of the Year
