You can now get power bocking insurance for £50 a year, this should be useful for anyone who is into bocking.
You can get a quote on their website:

Yeah, insurance does come in handy.

I needed insurance to be a bocking instructor at a workshop in a university.

Yes.
There's a lot more involved than just getting liability insurance.

You need to incorporate
1) Advertisement - costs money, which then you have to work back before making a profit.
2) Travel costs - Vary wildly on where you're going, fuel costs, mode of travel, etc.
3) A good quality service - You can't just go jump about. You need at least a basic routine.
4) A good rapport with both those who are employing you, and the public. Politeness is a must. Shyness is not.

Also, chasing up fees can become hard, and it's also a VERY competitive market. Simply asking others for advise can backfire wildly as they think you're trying to "steal their turf". Trying to get known alongside others who hold records, who have many more years experience, etc, is very difficult. A lot of the time you actually end up freelancing for them.

This is just from 2 years of juggling work, where 1 year was spent majorily bocking. It honestly does take the fun out of it after a while, earning money from it is great but the hassle that comes with it, I personally feel, is not worth it.

I love doing this sport as a Job myself.. Ive been working in the UK B-Bounce team for nearly 2 Years myself and Ive enjoyed every single Job that ive done..

But like sprog said.. you of course need certain skills and commitment to work as an entertainer, also having the confidence is definitely a must.

But remember sprong .. your meant to get paid expenses (Fuel for one) else the work can seem a little pointless Wink

Expenses (travel costs, food costs, etc) got incorporated into my fees. I never said about not getting them covered, it's just a pain to work out depending on distance and stuff. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy the job, it was all the other stuff that comes with it that's the pain.
You're lucky to have B-bounce cover the majority of your work, I had to calculate all my fees and everything myself Tongue

And who is sprong?!

that's a different kind of insurance, the insurance from sports cover direct as mentioned above is public liability insurance, which covers you if you fall on someone and hurt them while bocking.  The insurance your gymnastics place has covers them if you fall and hurt yourself on their equipment.

Thanks, XarnuSonci, for answering the question I was going to ask more comprehensively & consiely than I would have asked for.

I also bock professionally, except my job doesn't involve tricks, it involves extra equipment. Obviously I can't tell you my rates, but I charge by the hour and travel expenses are extra. The market I operate in is not acrobatic as such, and I have virtually no competitors. A company sponsors me, and gives me business support, but I have to chase the leads they give me.
