Anybody know what the average lifespan of a spring is? I'm not talking tundrah springs or those few that make it under the quality radar. What should we all expect from them? Theres been small talk of this but I think it would be good to know.
So what should we expect from the following?

PoweriSer Springs

7 league springs

Flying Locust springs

Powerskip springs (if anybody knows)

Simple answer !?
How longs a piece of string ?
There's a lot of factors that have to be taken into account
Your weight compared to the spring rating
How hard you bounce
How well you look after them ( knocks and chips )
I don't think there you can give a single answer ?

Thats what I was thinking. I know people are different so there has to be some differentiation.
But the real question is, how long does it last for most people. Good to hear a firsthand experience of how long this lasted for them.

The easiest way to get an answer is to set up an ongoing community poll so all members can "vote" on the number of months their spring lasted until it broke.  Members should keep adding their vote everytime a spring of theirs breaks.  Average the latest numbers every 3 or six months to keep track of what the average life span is.  Don't know if you want to bother breaking out 4 different spring brand polls -- which clearly you could -- but in any case, I think an ongoing community poll would be the most accurate way of establishing what a typical spring life span of a given spring might be in general.

Maybe set up a Spring Life Span category here and then 4 different brand voting threads with a forever running poll.

Pretty good idea, Bill, ill set up a temporary poll here. This will be a really long study, because people don't break their springs for awhile.

EDIT: Looks like i can't turn the thread into a poll, atleast I don't know how to.  Cry

Yeah, but people have already gone through springs, so members should add in the breaks they have already experienced over these past few years.  Hopefully, the polling function allows members to vote multiple times over the course of a year.

I would suggest doing the breakage ranges in 3 month periods 0-3, 3-6, 6-9 etc. because the poll will have to extend out a number of years.  While, you'll have guys like Tundra who goes through springs quickly, you will also have guys like me who are pretty easy on their springs (hey, 54 and bad knees) and last a few years.

(Sorry, I don't know how to set up a poll either.)

My Spring broke, i was running quite fast as well, i was trying out my lights i'd just fitted so it was in the dark and because i was just testing them i didnt bother with the pads which was immensly stupid, i ran for about a minute and i just fell lol, then when i looked i relised what had happened. funny enough though i didnt hear a crack or anything.

I break the springs, so guys like you don't have too.  Cheesy
My longest lasted 6 months (PoweriSer), this was my first pair, so I wasn't working them that hard.  The shortest lasted 45 minutes (PoweriZer Carbon).  Although I have had many skip springs go with in 1 to 6 hours.
