Hello all, I've been reading recently a lot of the topics regarding the confusion that is Poweriser. I think I have some useful information that will answer most peoples questions and hopefully clear up confusion regarding this great product.

1. Anybody interested in importing and selling Powerisers!

Currently the situation is to legally import this product you must be an approved exclusive brand importer. Currently in the UK we have Pro Jump or Powerizer.

Both are separate companies with individual trade marks. But the products are the Chinese Fly Jumper M and F range models for children and adults. Mr Boeck of Germany the original UK patent holder has authorised both companies as exclusive brand importers to legally sell their product in the UK.

I have been in contact with Mr Boeck and he does not intend to authorise any other exclusive brands from the Fly Jumper company in the UK. My guess is that their could be several individuals either about to or actually importing the Fly Jumper brand illegally into the UK hoping to avoid or evade prosecution.

Summary - Anybody importing in quantity this product from China without an exclusive agreement is similar to inserting a stick of dynamite into your rear passage and never quite knowing when someone will light the fuse!!

Brand Confusion - Powerizer spelt with a Z is from the Flyjumper company in China M and F range models.

Pro Jump - From the Flyjumper company in China M and F range models.

Poweriser spelt with an S is from the Korean company Hi Tech and I believe they have a new UK exclusive distributer starting soon.

If your about to buy powerizer, Poweriser or Pro Jump in my humble opinion they are all good quality. The exclusive importers should give the best overall aftersales service as they have a huge financial commitment to the product.

I think we as buyers should respect the exclusive agreements set up by Andrea Boeck after all its his patent and invention.
Don't be afraid to ask the question from your potential supplier regarding the Patent issue!!

Andrea Boek? According to Wikipedia (and other sources) the patent holder for jumping stilts (PoweriZers/Powerisers/Fly Jumpers and any other leaf-spring jumping device) is Alexander Bock:

Quote
Powerisers are jumping stilts produced by the Poweriser company of Korea. They were originally patented by Alexander Bock (US Patent No. 6,719,671 B1) on April 13, 2004.

i think in a way some poeople are taking the selling, rights, royalties, topic way to seriously.

if you are a person that bought a pair and are thinking of selling them to another person due to lack of intrest from the first owner. that owner is in no way breaking rules if they sell it to another person.

when u buy a brand new car (VW) alot of the money goes to the VW corporation, now if you sell it to a person u dont have to give money to VW do u??? hell no!!! the main company cannot double dip in getting money.

so if a person is set up as a distributor then yes, he has to pay all these royalties and other junk, if the person is a private owner tring to sell a used set to another person then he doesnt have to pay a royalty.

im only writing this cause it seems there is some confusion on this subject, unless i completely misread the thread or subject.

I don't think so. It is good information. Not all of us want to sell our own sets of PoweriZers Smiley . Some of us are looking into being resellers of this fine (and fun) product and knowing all of this information is important.

I do have a question, though. How can the UK be a "closed" market that only a few "official" resellers can sell there? For example, I live in the USA and do a decent amount of business (for graphic arts) worldwide via the worldwide web (for the most part). Clients contact me and hire me, etc. Nothing seems to be stopping this free trade of labor. Having said that, if I were to sell PoweriZers/Fly Jumpers on the Internet and on eBay, what would prevent me from selling them to someone who lives in the UK? If I did sell to someone living in the UK would I be breaking any laws?

If the problem is paying the royalties to Mr. Bock then can't one just get in touch with Mr. Bock and make an arrangement? I heard the arrangement was something like US$50 per unit sold.

this is an interesting topic, if a regular person selling his/her risers and sold them to a person in the UK, i dont think there would be any laws broken; thats almost saying that risers are an illeagal drug and thats not the case.

however if you were an internet store im thinking there could be some problems, but then again i have no idea about internet stores and there products and how the are distributed

I am fairly ignorant when it comes to these patent laws. Because of my lack of understanding I simply cannot see how one man can stop someone from buying and reselling a product (whether the individual buys/sells only one or thousands of them). Can someone explain how this works to me?

Thanks!

also what i cant understand is the fact that if someone were to buy and resell; why would they have to pay a royalty?? its double dipping, cause they would get a royalty from the original seller......

im also ignorant in this stuff.

I would just like to know how to get in touch with Mr. Bock. I certainly don't mind paying the fees per each unit sold and desire to do all things legally and ethically. Does anyone here know how to get in touch with him?

I thought people might find this interesting. Personally, I am finding it frustrating, but I thought I would share it anyway.

I contacted Mr. Boeck concerning royalty payments as I desire to resell PoweriZers/Fly Jumpers here in the USA. Here is the response I received back from him:

*** quote removed by me ***

Therefore, the problem here is with the PoweriZer/Fly Jumper brand ... specifically with the Chinese manufacturer. What does that mean for all of us that have and enjoy PoweriZers/Fly Jumpers (I, myself, have a set)? I am not talking about legal problems (because the problem would be with the reseller if he is not allowed to resell the item). What I am talking about is what exactly is the problem with the manufacturer that Mr. Boeck would not want to authorize these brands?

Mr. Boeck asked me to remove the quote I had posted from his email to me. Therefore I have complied. However, I still have questions. As a result, I will summerize what he had said to me.

Mr. Boeck indicated in his email to me that there is some problem with the Chinese manufacturer and therefore they are not authorizing anyone else to sell jumping stilt products made by them. I simply wanted to know where that leaves all of us that use these products.

If you want to sell Poweriser or Powerizer I think it is possible if you strike a deal as a trade customer with an authorised dealer in the USA. I am sure you can sell in the USA.

While that may indeed be a solution (though I don't know how well that will work with Mr. Boeck) there is a problem with this scenario. The problem is profitability. Each time you add a man to the middle you decrease your profitability and/or you are then required to sell your product at a higher price. If I can go directly to a manufacturer then I can sell the product for about US$350. If I add a middle-man inbetween then they will certainly want to make some profit from me. This will force me to increase my price. Once I do that I will no longer be competative and there would be no reason for anyone to purchase PoweriZers/Fly Jumpers from me at all. There are already companies that sell in or to the USA that are selling PoweriZers/Fly Jumpers for just under US$400. As a start-up company I would need the lower price in order to compete with these already established sellers.

I am certain this is a great market and a great product. I am also certain that doing things ethically and legally is the way to go. However, the US$350 price I quoted above includes shipping costs and other fees (and even has the royalty fee added in as well). I do not think I could match this price by purchasing directly from an authorized US reseller. I also have the option of purchasing single units from the manufacturer and have worked out a deal where I can get single units at the bulk order price. They will even brand-name the box in my company name. These are all things that a USA reseller won't do for me and, if they would, it would increase the price of the unit.

I agree with you and I am already thinking of some things. Not to let the cat out of the bag, but perhaps purchasing from an authorized reseller and then modding the units to improve them and then reselling them as pre-modded units (thus, improved). This could help to justify the higher cost.
